        Courtney holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theatre Arts from Stephens College and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Directing from Western Illinois University. Originally from Jefferson City, MO, Crouse spent fifteen years in Chicago where he served nearly a decade as casting director and production manager for the Theo Ubique Cabaret Theater and two years as associate artistic director for the Timber Lake Playhouse. Currently, he is an adjunct professor and director and The Conservatory for the Performing Arts at Stephens College in Columbia, MO and also serves as the Artistic Director for the Clinton Area Showboat Theatre in Clinton, IA

        During his three decades in the industry, Crouse has performed in, directed, and/or produced more than 100 productions.

        Chicago acting credits include roles in South Pacific (Marriott Theater), Route 66, Grease (Paramount Theater), Altar Boyz (Noble Fool Theatrics), Bulrusher (Congo Square), Jekyll & Hyde, Big River(Bohemian Theatre Ensemble), Violet (Bailiwick Chicago), Chicago PD (NBC), Pump Boys and Dinettes,and Chess (Theo Ubique). Regional credits include roles in South Pacific, Million Dollar Quartet, Mary Poppins, Evita, Dearly Departed, Annie, Last Train To Nibroc, Tuesdays With Morrie, Thoroughly Modern Mille, State Fair, The Music Man, Moon Over Buffalo, Cats, Man of La Mancha, You Can’t Take It With You, Urinetown, 1776, Hair, Anything Goes, and more.

        Courtney has been nominated for the Joseph Jefferson Award four times, winning twice for both leading actor in a musical and supporting actor in a musical. As a director, he was also nominated for best direction of a musical for A Marvin Hamlisch Songbook, a show written and conceived entirely by Crouse and his colleague, Aaron Benhamusing the music of Marvin Hamlisch.

        Courtney is a proud member of SDC (Stage Directors and Choreographers Society) and AEA (Actors’ Equity Association).
